Hours: Monday through Friday, 7:00 am – 4:00 pm (Or as business justifies) Occasional after hours and weekend work as needed. (call out by company cell phone)

The Commercial Packaged Delivery Driver is responsible for the driving and operation of J.B. Dewar, Inc. delivery truck and accurately delivering products. The primary role is to deliver petroleum products to a broad customer base ranging from vineyards, construction sites, farms, ranches, municipalities, and more. Safety and attention to detail are critical to the success of this position.
Essential Skills & Responsibilities:
- Detail oriented to ensure correct product and quantity is loaded and delivered to customers.
- Must be able to climb in and out of the cab and the back of the truck several times per day.
- Deliver a variety of bulk lubricants, packaged goods & fuels to a variety of customers.
- Back-up other drivers who are on vacation or out due to sickness.
- Pride of work includes taking care of company owned equipment.
- Should be familiar with safety, spill/overfill and recovery procedures. (training provided)
- Must take and follow directions from dispatcher to make assigned deliveries in an efficient manner.
- Good communication, both verbal and written skills are essential.
- Operate a forklift, pallet jack and hand truck, (training provided)
- Excellent social skills are a must as this position has many interactions with customers.
- Customer service mindset
- Must navigate and drive a truck through sometimes difficult circumstances
- Must learn how to use a pumping system, flush volumes and product compatibility
- Must fill out paperwork (customer deliver paperwork, daily vehicle inspection and tire report)
- Adaptable to new technologies.
Skills: (desired but not required)
- Past experience as route delivery driver. (Fuel or lubes experience a plus)
- Familiar with San Luis Obispo, Monterey, and Santa Barbara County areas.
- Some computer skills desired (i.e., email, cell phone)
- Experience or knowledge of petroleum products and pumping/metering systems helpful.
Skills: (Required)
- Class A or B CDL with Haz Mat and Air Brake Endorsements and possess a clean driving record.
Qualities:
- Team player, friendly (both for customers and staff)
- Ability to navigate and be oriented out in the field (sometimes directions from customers are vague)
- Ability to communicate well, and express ideas or preferences on how the truck is loaded
- Willing to go the extra mile… literally sometimes we have to redirect and adapt
- Self-confident in his abilities to provide the service we offer, punctual and attentive, Solid hard and working, ethical, to have the ability to communicate with others.
Essential Physical Functions:
- Frequent standing, sitting, bending, lifting, able to lift at least 75 pounds and climb ladders.
- Near, mid and far vision
